About Stephen
Senator Stephen Harding serves as the Senate Minority Leader in the Connecticut State Senate and represents the 30th Senate District, the largest geographic district in the state, encompassing 17 communities across northwest Connecticut. First elected to the Senate in 2022 after serving four terms in the Connecticut House of Representatives, he was selected by his colleagues to serve as Minority Leader in February 2024.
A graduate of Albertus Magnus College, Harding earned his bachelor’s degree summa cum laude before receiving his law degree from New York Law School. He is admitted to the Connecticut Bar and operates a private law practice in Danbury. Beyond his legislative service, Stephen has been actively involved in his hometown of Brookfield, serving on the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Board of Education, where he chaired the Policy Subcommittee. He is also a member of Brookfield Cares, which focuses on substance abuse prevention and mental health awareness, and serves as an executive board member of the Brookfield Baseball and Softball Association.
A dedicated volunteer youth sports coach, Harding remains committed to supporting local families and strengthening his community. A resident of Brookfield for nearly 30 years, Stephen lives with his wife, Kelly, their children, Carter and Piper, and their golden retriever, Kennedy.
